HERE are the most viewed stories on www.examiner.co.uk last week:
1) A COMMUNITY was been left in shock following the tragic death of shopkeeper Gurmail Singh.
Mr Singh ran the Cowcliffe Convenience Store and was well-known and highly respected in the area.
His life was cut tragically short when a group of robbers targeted his store on Saturday evening. The father-of-three sadly died of head injuries in the early hours of Sunday morning.
2) MORE snow was forecast to hit Huddersfield as temperatures dropped.
The gritters were out in force trying to clear up to 6cm of snow from the main roads. The A640 New Hey Road through Scammonden was closed off while Greenfield Road was also hit by the snow.
3) A FACEBOOK fraudster was seconds away from conning a Huddersfield family out of hundreds of pounds by posing as a distressed relative.
The hacker stole an account on the social networking website belonging to Michelle Malpas’ cousin.
They then sent Michelle messages cruelly claiming her relative had been the victim of a gunpoint robbery and begging for cash.
4) DO you fancy yourself as an amateur Inspector Morse?
Then West Yorkshire Police’s murder squad wanted to hear from you.
In an unprecedented step for the force – and in what is thought to be a UK first – the homicide and major enquiry team (HMET) is recruiting volunteers to work alongside top detectives on some of the area’s most high-profile crimes.
5) POLICE have defended plans to delay the exit of some Huddersfield Town fans following Saturday’s Derby with Leeds United.
Officers say they have considered ‘all the options’ and believe their plans for the crunch fixture are the best way to ensure the safety of fans.
