Unprecedented rises in the prices of beer in pubs and clubs around Huddersfield have got people talking
StephB read our piece but could top a 15p increase per pint.
“I was charged £2.70 for a half of bitter at a ‘gastro-pub last week!
“Good job I don’t go often – my pension would soon be gone.”
The annual St Patrick’s Day Parade took place in Huddersfield on Sunday and thousands turned out to cheer on the floats.
Daveyb was there: “I was in the Liverpool Irish Patriots Republican Flute Band on the parade.
“It was my first parade in your nice town and it was great to see so many cultures coming together for a community-based day.
“It was a great social cohesion for the town of Huddersfield and the bonding it gave everybody was beyond belief.
“ Everybody had such a warm welcome which I don’t often see in some parts of our society.
“Well done Huddersfield for leading the way in a great community event and thank you for being asked to come.”
Huddersfield Town were facing top of the tree Norwich City on Saturday – but despite taking a 1-0 lead ended up losing 3-1.
Despite the result Terriers100 saw some positives: “Town’s play was top quality for half-an-hour but they couldn’t maintain it and Norwich pressure all over the park soon highlighted weaknesses.
“We were reduced to lumping the ball out and it was coming straight back at us ... bringing Berrett on to play in front of back four would have given us a stable platform to build from.”
Our story on Saturday about Smithy Lane in Moldgreen having more than 120 potholes on it certainly sparked a flurry of comments as the pothole issue simply refuses to go away.
Among the posters was Big Steve who seems to have lost faith that the road will ever be repaired: “Hope they resurface the whole road and not just patch it up.
“With all the road tax we pay in this country our roads should be like driving on air.
“The more we pay, the less we get.”
