OUR story about the number of drivers using phones while at the wheel doubling over the last four years got people hot under the collar.
Chief among these was poster Dave62: “Perhaps, if more of these policemen that we pay for were out and about enforcing the existing rules, then, as in most cases, the problem would be eradicated swiftly.
“The numbers of drivers with lights out, driving aggressively, jumping red lights, speeding and tailgating has also increased tremendously.
“These issues will only be sorted when the existing laws are enforced. Day after day we hear of the sickening carnage on our roads of which 90% could easily have been avoided if laws were enforced.
“Where are you policemen hiding?”
Our news feature from Saturday about dangerous dogs is still getting a reaction from dog owners and those who believe in tougher penalties.
Dog owner Anniehem1 wanted to get her point across: “I only take our rottweiler out when no other dogs are in the field where we go for our morning walk.
“We also have a rescue lurcher who when we got her had been raced, burned with cigarettes and had a badly scarred stomach due to being left in a wet kennel.
“Even now she shakes and need constant reassurance.
“My two dogs will NEVER be off the lead again and I agree we have to be very careful with our dogs now as any little mishap could be blown out of all proportion.”
New street signs for Almondbury with a hint of heritage got Stephen_Colbert thinking: “I am all for Kirklees Council’s Regeneration Capital Plan.
“But don’t go around putting different style street signs up.”
Finally pgt67 seemed to sum up the feeling of many posters on www.examiner.co.uk when it came to the latest goings on in the recently renovated St George’s Square: “Didn't expect anything else, did you?
“Seems to be the norm these days that after new road works/pavements the utilities have to dig them up – similar to seeing new snow you just ‘have’ to go and walk on it!”
