THE silence and desolation of the moors between Holmfirth and Meltham is perfectly captured by photographer Gary Stevenson.
He had got up early to capture both the sun and the moon against a dramatic landscape.
Gary and wife Laura-Jane live in Honley and have just celebrated the birth of their first child, Thomas Edward, who is a month old.
Gary said: "I stirred early on a Saturday morning and decided to have a wander about in the hills around Meltham and Holmfirth.
"I wrapped up well – it was -6°C up there – and was ambling about well before the sun came up with only the grouse for company.
"As the sun came up I set up for this shot with the moon still in view and the frosty boulders in the foreground.’’
The new moon is high in the sky above the boulder on the right.
