MIRFIELD circus boss hits out as plan to ban wild animals gains momentum:
Magdale: “The best way to stop animals being used in circuses is not to ban them but for the public not to attend. We don’t need more and more laws.”
Seanster: “I can sympathise with your point of view, Magdale. Excessive and badly thought out legislation can cause more harm than good. I’ve got to say, though, that we need to be proactive to ensure that animal use ceases sooner rather than later. I’m surprised you can still see lions or seals or elephants in circuses. I thought it was now just acrobatics, people being fired out of canons, sword swallowers and clowns in dilapidated cars!”HuddersFax_Resident: “The only possible excuse for keeping animals like this and subjecting them to lifelong torture is because people buy tickets to see the animals being tortured and paraded around for their gratification. These people won’t stop displaying animals in this manner until people stop buying their tickets.”High fares and poor reliability key issues for travellers in West Yorkshire:SteveB: “I’ve said this before but the biggest problems are that the bus routes are daft – Marsden to Holmfirth, you have to go through town – and that you pay a premium for peak time services to find that there are fewer buses per hour because they’ve been diverted to serve schools, no doubt subsidised to do so.”“I can sympathise with your point of view, Magdale.
