1) First map of huge Huddersfield Northern Gateway plan revealed

THE first maps of a revolutionary plan for Huddersfield have emerged.

The Examiner revealed maps showing the scale of the so-called Northern Gateway, which could transform a huge swathe of the town from the edge of Birkby to the M62.

Thornhill Estates has drawn up the plan which includes some 841 new homes, offices covering 355,000sq ft of floorspace, some 10,000sq ft of new shops plus a 60-bed hotel.

The landowner claims the development will bring £180m of investment into Huddersfield and create 1,532 jobs but a leading campaigner said the Northern Gateway development would bring “carnage” to the town.

THE dramatic confession of killer Andrew Lindo has been revealed to a court.

A jury listened in silence as Lindo admitted in police interviews that he had strangled and stabbed his fiancee Marie Stewart and then hidden her body in a bag in his garage.

The dramatic confessions were played at Bradford Crown Court as Lindo continued to deny the murder of Miss Stewart.

3) Huddersfield teenager admits ‘buried alive’ kidnap but denies attempted murder charge

A TEENAGER has admitted kidnapping a woman allegedly buried alive.

But Patrick Borys has denied the attempted murder of the woman.

Now he and another man will go on trial in November charged in connection with the abduction.

Borys, 18 was arrested after claims that a woman had been abducted and buried alive in a cardboard box near Woodsome Hall Golf Club.

TEENAGE girls have accused staff at Shelley College of “heavy-handed” tactics over a school make-up ban.

Year 11 students say the school has gone over the top in removing mirrors from the girls’ toilets.

5) Murder and suicide probe after couple found dead in Deighton flat are named

THEY were the couple no-one knew.

West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that the bodies of Efias Rusukira and his wife, Grace, were found at their flat at Chalwood, Deighton.
