Web forum: Even moor controversy

CONTROVERSIAL plans for 300 homes at Lindley Moor get the go-ahead.

harryo: “We need the houses, we need the jobs involved in building the houses, so well done KMC for pushing this through.

“I live close by so yes I do appreciate that it may cause some problems with congestion, pressure on schooling etc, but that’s life.

“I just wish I was the farmer whose land the developers have bought! Hope the retailers in the area get a good boost from the people this will bring into the area.

“How about the old Tech site for housing? Surely with the number of existing offices and those in the planning pipeline we don’t need another office development?

“Perhaps we could ask Waitrose in to complete the set of supermarkets we already have. Or is a planned development in the Holme Valley more suited to supermarket customers?

“Go for it, Clr Khan you have my full support. If in doubt, build on it.”

anneb: “I am really sorry to everyone this plan is going to affect. Remember this, and the people who are responsible, at the next election, or it will continue – in our best interests, of course!”

ZAK: “Thanks to all the councillors who voted AGAINST this proposal, as you have clearly listened to the local community and thought about the negative impact it will bring to an already over-developed area, putting a strain on local resources.”

Rutland: “The problems that further development in this already over-developed area will bring will not of course be encountered by yourselves, the councillors and planners, but by the existing residents and you can expect little thanks for what you have done for them.”
