1. A WOMAN was trapped after an accident which left her vehicle resting on its roof on Huddersfield ring road.

Police, paramedics and firefighters raced to the crash next to Benson’s Beds on Saturday.

The woman is believed to have turned right from Trinity Street on to Castlegate in her grey Navarra Sport just before the accident.

Police closed part of the ring road while firefighters freed the driver.

2. POLICE swooped on several homes across Huddersfield as part of a so-called ‘cash for crash’ probe.

Four men were arrested on suspicion of offences of conspiracy to defraud, deception and money laundering. One 32-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and money laundering.

The raids were in Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Blackburn. By the end of the week 25 people had been arrested.

3. A CYCLIST who suffered serious facial injuries was given vital first aid by a passing motorist.

Adrian Daniels, 22, of Meltham, was in intensive care, in a serious but stable condition, after the crash.

The incident happened on Meltham Road, at the junction with Moor Lane, Netherton.

4. LITTLE Emily Bingley has the sparkling blue eyes, blonde hair and winning smile of her mother.

But Chris Bingley, from Fartown, is determined his 18-month-old daughter will not suffer the same tragic fate as her mum, Joe.

In April last year Joe – who was suffering from severe postnatal depression (PND) following Emily’s birth – was killed instantly after she stepped in front of a train near Deighton railway station.

Chris has set up the Joanne Bingley Memorial Foundation in his wife’s memory and it will campaign for improvements to Perinatal Mental Health Care.

5. A STUDENT found dead in his flat at Huddersfield University halls of residence in Kirkburton has been named as Hitesh Ahir, 18.

The death of the teenager, who was from Wakefield, is being treated as sudden and unexplained but not suspicious. An inquest was opened and adjourned.
