HERE are the top five stories taken from www.examiner.co.uk last week.
1. HUDDERSFIELD is on TV again – this time in a TV advert for McDonald’s.
The chain filmed their latest commercial at the end of September in town, Marsh and Fartown.
The commercial, which begins at the railway bridge at Viaduct Street, sees a man walking through Huddersfield singing On The Street Where You Live.
The central character of the ad continues to sing the song, from My Fair Lady, as he walks around town.
But, as millions of viewers if they’re not from Huddersfield will never know, the ad jumps around the town centre and surrounding areas.
2. NEW anti-speeding measures will be introduced on a dangerous Huddersfield road.
Kirklees Council announced plans to improve safety on the B6108 between Meltham and Lockwood.
Cyclist Adrian Daniels, 22, was seriously injured in a collision last week – the latest in a string of accidents along the road.
Mobile speed cameras will be introduced along the B6108 by the end of the month.
3. YOUNG Chloe Clark has been reunited with her stolen puppy Lou.
And the youngster’s delight follows an amazing stroke of luck.
The stolen puppy was spotted by a family friend being touted for sale by a group of youths outside Huddersfield’s Odeon Cinema – hours after a massive search of the streets around the family’s Fartown home.
4. TWO drivers escaped unhurt after a crash in Huddersfield.
But the accident in Wakefield Road, Aspley, brought traffic misery for hundreds.
Roads in and out of Huddersfield town centre were brought to a standstill after the crash.
Some drivers said they did not move for more than 10 minutes.
A Ford Transit van and Ford Mondeo collided at the junction of Wakefield Road and St Andrew’s Road.
5. TWO boys stood and watched as an elderly woman’s Clayton West home went up in flames.
And a court was told the blaze came moments after they set fire to an outside bin with a cigarette.
The teenagers, aged 13 and 15, were before Huddersfield Youth Court each facing two charges of arson and recklessly endangering life.
