1. A GRANDMOTHER was killed in a horror accident outside her own home.

Jenny Shaw, 77, died following a collision with a motorcycle outside her house on Moor Lane, Netherthong, on Saturday morning as she was walking her dog.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was scrambled, but it is thought the mother-of-two was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist was treated in hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash.

Mrs Shaw’s dog was unhurt in the incident.

2. A DISUSED pub could be turned into a community centre if planning permission gets the go-ahead.

An application was submitted to change the use of the Jolly Sailor on Broad Lane, Moldgreen, into a community hall.

Hasrat Sultan Bahu Trust, who are based in Birmingham, put forward the proposal following the closure of the pub earlier this year.

The trust focuses on Islamic education and runs sites around the world.

3. A FORMER teacher went on trial accused of killing his father in Huddersfield.

Jasknwal Rana has been charged with manslaughter following the death of his 75-year-old father earlier this year.

Rana, 33, is said to have grabbed Tarsam Singh in a headlock and punched him three or four times in the face during an incident in the kitchen of their home in Alder Street, Fartown.

Despite bleeding heavily, Mr Singh was able to make his way to a neighbour’s house across the road, but within minutes of the assault he collapsed on the driveway of his own home.

4. POLICE sealed off a stretch of George Street, Milnsbridge, after reports of a woman being bundled into a car.

The incident is thought to have happened after claims that a couple were seen arguing.

Police confirmed they were investigating the abduction reports but stressed that at the moment it was an appeal for information. The couple were later traced and the man confirmed that both were safe and well.

5. A PET sheep was killed and another savagely injured at a Linthwaite smallholding.

Mum-of-two Vicky Broadley, 43, got a call from her neighbour who had made the gruesome discovery on Monday.

Vicky, of Reservoir Side Road, Blackmoorfoot, said: “I work at a vets so when I got the call I just grabbed one of them to come to the field.”
