1. A TERRIFIED woman was buried alive in Huddersfield woodland by her partner – because he was bored of her.

But miraculously, Michelina Lewandowska, 27, managed to escape from her shallow grave near Woodsome Hall Golf Club a court heard.

And now her former partner Marcin Kasprzak, of Penistone Road, Fenay Bridge, and his friend Patryk Borys, of Rashcliffe Hill Road, Lockwood, stand accused of attempting to kill her.

The Polish men appeared at Leeds Crown Court on trial.

2. THE Thandi brothers are set to launch another bid to rebuild the pub on Castle Hill.

But Kirklees Council will this week try to make it harder for any new development at the iconic site.

The 200-year-old pub was torn down six years ago following a dispute between the council and the businessmen over their plans to build an extension.

Last year Kirklees refused to grant permission for a new pub at Castle Hill.

Council planners ruled that a new hotel – even if it was on the same site as the original – was not an acceptable development on green belt land.

3. LARGE parts of Bradford Road were cordoned off after a teenager was stabbed in the early hours of this morning.

At 4.25am police were called to Fartown after the ambulance service received calls that an 18-year-old man had been stabbed.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the stabbing and are currently in custody.

4. AFTER a rocky start Huddersfield’s Festival of Light went out with a bang.

Fireworks lit up the town’s skyline last night as the finale of the three-day event, which showcased a majestic mix of rock music and internationally acclaimed daredevil airborne acrobatics, came to a close.

Crowds were not put off by the soggy start and returned in their droves last night, braving the wind and rain to watch the many acts.

5. A MAJOR road into Huddersfield closed after an early morning crash which left a motorist seriously injured.

The crash happened at around 5.50am when a Ford Focus and a motorbike were in a collision close to the junction of Willow Lane East off Bradford Road.
