Web forum: The advent of dirty doggy Christmas decorations

MIND your step!

That was the call from many parents over a dog-fouled footpath in Golcar used by scores of primary schoolchildren every day on their walk to school.

Outraged parents, staff and pupils of St John’s Junior and Infant School in Field Head, Golcar, are considering setting up their own patrol to crack down on the dog-owners who blight the area.

Mum-of-three Kerry West raised the problem of dogs defecating on a path near the school with Kirklees Council.

She said: “This path was clear before the weekend and we have come down and its covered again.

“One of the dog wardens came out and she gave out dog poo bags and poop scoops. But we need more action. We are even thinking of setting up a dog patrol as we need to tackle the issue. Children want to walk to school but this is disgusting.”

F1Yorkie had reached the end of his or her tether“It’s about time Kirklees Council grew a backbone against this disgusting behaviour and clamped down against the selfishness of these disgusting people.

“If caught, my action would be as follows:

1st time offence: An official warning

2nd offence: Fined £300

3rd and final offence: Dog taken off them and banned from owning animals as they clearly can’t be looking after them properly!” norcoop didn’t see why the problem existed: “As a long standing dog owner living in Golcar I know this footpath well.

“It’s absolutely disgusting and it’s not the only one. It makes me particularly angry because, as we always clear up after ours, we know that bags are not expensive. We pay £1.50 for 50 – that’s 3p each.”

idlejohn kept it simple: “This problem will only be sorted out when one of these obnoxious people are caught letting their mutt mess the pavements and are taken to court in a high profile case and the maximum fine imposed.

“It is those moronic owners who take their mutts out before going to work early in the morning and those going out late at night that would seem to be the worst offenders and to watch some of them suddenly produce a plastic bag (after frantic searching) when you make it known you are watching them is quite comical as it is obvious that they were going to simply walk and leave the mess.”

Eli had seen a new phenomenon: “When I go walking round and about I see little black bags hanging from trees like Christmas decorations!

“How would the dog owners feel if humans poo-ed outside their house or in their garden or hung it off their trees?”
