Here are the top five stories from our website last week.
1. A SON failed to report the death of his father for five months – and pocketed all his benefit payments.
Christopher Blackburn kept his father’s body in the living room at his home.
But now Blackburn, of Norman Road in Birkby, has been told he faces a jail sentence after pleading guilty to the “appalling” crime.
The 29-year-old has admitted he prevented a lawful and decent burial of a dead body between October 31, 2010 and March 23 last year and stealing £1,308 of his father benefits.
2. HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS owner Ken Davy made a new offer to settle the controversial Galpharm Stadium shares deal.
He pledged to put the rugby club’s shares in Kirklees Stadium Development Ltd (KSDL) in a charitable trust along with the Huddersfield Town shares in the company.
But he was adamant that the offer was conditional on Town owner Dean Hoyle completing the agreement that the two men had in February 2010.
The original basis for running the stadium was that Town would have a 40% stake, the Giants a 20% stake and Kirklees Council a 40% stake.
3. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN fans are to hold their most strident protest yet in their battle to claim back shares in the Galpharm Stadium.
Organisers hope thousands of them will pack the stands on Saturday wearing vivid, lime green T-shirts in a highly visual plea to settle the long-running shares dispute.
They have chosen the Brentford game because it is being screened live by the Sky TV cameras.
The shirts are emblazoned with the logo: £2. Do the right thing. Give us back our shares.
4. HE was the second Huddersfield heart-throb to wow the ladies on ITV’s Take Me Out.
And folk musician Jack Rutter, of Shepley, proved a huge hit on the Saturday night show.
And, along with Meltham’s Ben Bamforth, there was a third Huddersfield representative – Gracie among the girl contestants.
5. HUDDERSFIELD Town have made a key transfer window signing – Timmy the Terrier.
The five-year-old Yorkshire Terrier has been snapped up by the Galpharm club to perform at half time.
His signing brings competition for places with current mascot Terry the Terrier.
