MK Dons 0 Huddersfield Town 2: Examiner match report

MK Dons 0 - 2 Huddersfield Town: Play-off match report

BobPutney: “Came away feeling I’d seen the beginnings of a proper team! A solid central defence at last with the excellent Sean Morrison and Peter Clarke playing the ball through – not over – the midfield where Damien Johnson (outstanding) and Tommy Miller worked well together, creating attacks on a scale I don’t remember last seeing. What a change. On the other hand, except for Lee Novak’s cross for Jordan Rhodes’ goal, they were both awful on Saturday. Yet we still won partly because with Scott Arfield’s injury, Kallum Higginbotham came on and made up for them both. Tom Clarke tackled and intercepted brilliantly when he replaced Callum Woods, saving several dangerous situations. He must surely start tomorrow. And there really is only one Ian Bennett!’’

Cookyphil: “A really class performance. Higginbotham played really well and I can’t understand why he wasn’t on from the start. Novak and Rhodes linked up really well and the midfield did brilliantly. I was surprised that Gary Roberts wasn’t on the bench, but he might be leaving in the summer. If they played like this all the time we’d be promoted already.’’

terrier26: “I don’t think our system would allow to play Jordan Rhodes, Lee Novak and Higginbotham from the start. If you want to play Higginbotham who would you leave out? As far as Roberts is concerned he’s better not being in the team because I don’t think he has total commitment and would not fight like the others did on Saturday.”

AGM: “The beer in sunny Florida tasted even better today – great result, I hope we can finish the job tomorrow. Kallum Higginbotham seems to have made a big difference since he came back from Barnsley. I can’t understand why we let him go in the first place. I will be back for the final and think we can beat both Sheffield United and Stevenage.”

blackdave: “Good all round display. Played it just like the top teams do. Weathered the first 15 minutes of each half then took control, and scored two excellent goals. Looking forward to tomorrow night and finishing the job. Well done Simon Grayson for getting the right 11 on the field and playing the right tactics, Higginbotham and Damien Johnson must start and we should not fear either Sheffield United or Stevenage. at Wembley.’’

thejackal: “What a difference a few weeks make performance wise. A great team selection with a various options for cover from the bench which seemed to improve the team when changes had to be made. Everyone played very well.’’
