HOLLYWOOD star Patrick Stewart returned to the London stage last night.

He won huge applause at the capital's Albery Theatre for his part in a revival of Ibsen's play The Master Builder.
The production also stars Sue Johnston, pictured with Patrick, who is known for her roles in The Royle Family as Barbara Royle and Brookside.
Mirfield-born Patrick - best known as Captain Picard in the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation - plays an ageing builder and architect who has ruthlessly built up his reputation at the expense of his relationship with his wife and colleagues.
After a short regional tour, performances began last night. The official opening is next Wednesday.
