ELLAND'S Rex Cinema is putting up its prices for only the third time since reopening 16 years ago.
Owner Charles Morris said increased film hire costs were one factor.
From today, admission prices rise by 50p to £4 for adults and £3 for children and senior citizens.
Bargain night on Monday goes up to £3 for everybody, which will also be the price for Thursday morning shows.
Mr Morris said: "Our last increase was over three years ago. During that time all our costs have risen considerably.
"Foremost among these has been the film hire," he added.
Mr Morris said the prices still represented good value for money.
"We have made various improvements in the last couple of years, including pullman seats and Dolby stereo sound," he said.
