A Calderdale bistro has a new head chef at the helm of its kitchen.

Top chef Glenn Futter joins La Cachette restaurant after nine years at The Millbank near Ripponden where he was a partner in the business.

His accolades include helping the restaurant to secure a listing in The Good Food Guide 2013 as well as a Michelin Bib Gourmand rating.

The French-owned ‘gourmet’s bible’ describes La Cachette as a “long-standing, well-run bistro” providing “classical, seasonal” cooking with “international influences.”

Prior to this move, Glenn worked as head chef at a fashionable brasserie in Liverpool, Ziba, where he gained a rosette and cooking mark of five in The Good Food Guide; an award yet to be bettered in the former European capital of culture.

He said: “Joining La Cachette gives me a fantastic opportunity to work in a traditional Brasserie environment while still allowing scope for innovation. The restaurant is much loved by local residents and has attracted a loyal following over the years. I have already begun to put my stamp on the menus and look forward to working with the whole team to take La Cachette forward.”

The appoinment allows chef proprieter Jon Nichols to be freed up to take over the reins at neighbouring Bertie’s Banqueting.

Mr Nichols added: “I am thrilled to welcome Glenn to the team. His extensive experience and culinary knowledge is impressive and we look forward to taking our food to new heights under his guidance.”
