He is one of heavy metal’s most famous faces and now Holme Valley music legend Biff Byford is to step back into the spotlight as part of the Saxons' 35th birthday tour.

Lead singer Biff, who was brought up in Honley, will certainly make his presence felt when he takes the stage the Leeds Academy this December with the rest of the band.

Their third headline show in the city since they reformed in 2010, the 80s rock heavyweights are also working on a live DVD that will be released to coincide with their 12 UK dates.

Called Warriors of The Road, the British leg is part of a 38-show European anniversary tour which will also see them travel to Germany, Greece and Scandinavia.

Fans old and new will be treated to a set list made up of tracks from Saxon’s ‘holy trinity’ albums which include Wheels of Steel, Strong Arm of the Law and Denim and Leather.

Since forming in 1976 in Barnsley, Biff and a changing line up of band members became one of the leaders of the new wave of heavy metal and have 20 albums under their belt., which include four top ten and two top five albums.

This is in addition to inspiring legions of other heavy metal superstars, such as Metallica, Mötley Crüe and Megadeath.
