THIS week we bring you a fascinating glimpse into what was happening in local amateur sport 24 years ago.

Football, squash, cricket, darts, table tennis, tae kwon-do and golf are all featured.

Meltham Golf Club’s junior section are pictured here taking a break from practice.

The club had a growing band of young players, aged from six to 14, who were well entrenched in the Huddersfield and District Union. Behind the section was Honley High School teacher Richard Sykes.

On the back row, from left, are a handful of the club's top juniors: John Styring, David Castle, John Eyre and Roger Hunt with assisstant professional Martyn Brook and club caption Keith Sutcliffe on the far right.
