She's a girl ... Youngsters in Malta were in for a shock when Deighton High School football team visited the island.
For the side's striker was 14-year-old Samantha Britton.
Samantha could not play for the school team because girls were barred after the age of 11 under a local ruling.
But she was due to play when the team visited the sunshine island for what it, was hoped, would herald the start of a long-term exchange scheme.
Headmaster Roy Norcliffe said at the time: "It will be something of a surprise when the opposition see Samantha, but we have no doubts about including her. She is a very strong footballer and a valued member of the squad".
The party of 14 were staying in St Paul's Bay and were to meet a team from a high school in Naaxar.
