CONGRATULATIONS to Huddersfield superbikes star Tom Sykes on scoring his first world championship double.

His two wins at the sun-drenched race day at Donington Park were stunning.

The only time he appeared to be under any pressure was at the first corner of each race, but having shaken off the unwanted attention, the performances were pretty much perfection.

Yet another superpole was followed by new lap records and two victories that reduced the lead of Aprilia’s Frenchman Sylvain Guintoli in the championship rankings to just four points.

However, Donington did leave you the feeling that it can only be a matter of time before Kawasaki Racing Team rider Sykes cruises into the lead in the rankings in the same manner he did in the two races at the East Midlands circuit.

And the best bit was the 27-year-old (left) was totally at ease with all the fuss.

Let’s hope that huge smile remains a permanent feature all the way to the end of the season.
