IT’S a view that’s famous during the day – but here it is at night.

While our photographer Andrew Catchpool was taking images of the beacon being lit at Castle Hill for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee he spun around to get this image of Huddersfield at night

The mass of lights to the right is Huddersfield town centre and as the last remnants of daylight vanish over the moors an inky blackness descends across the town.

Since the pub was demolished in 2005 few people venture up to Castle Hill at night, so it’s a view few will have seen showing the thousands of street lights in full glow.

It also gives an idea what you will see while having a drink or a meal if the pub is rebuilt there.

It is understood that brothers Mick and Barry Thandi will submit a planning application to build a new pub exactly the same size as the original, but the application has not yet gone in to Kirklees Council.

We always need submissions for Picture Of The Week.

If your eye has been caught by a sunny face, a community event or a beautiful building, then send in those images too.

We are always keen to celebrate the town’s achievements, its spirit and its people.

So please get out the camera and share your view of what makes Huddersfield so special.

Send entries to features@examiner.co.uk or you can drop them in the post to Picture of the Week, Features, Huddersfield Daily Examiner, Pennine Business Park, Longbow Close, Bradley Road, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, HD2 1GQ.
