THIS phenomenal photograph captures low mist over Meltham on an early summer’s morning.

It was taken by Examiner reader Shane Wilkinson at 6.30am from a hill overlooking Meltham and the Magdale valley with Castle Hill in the distance.

Shane used a Panasonic Lumix to take the image from Leygards Lane, just off Wessenden Head Road above Meltham – on the Peak District National Park boundary.

The 44-year-old has always lived in Meltham and works as a printer at Kirklees Council.

He said: “For some reason I woke up at 5.30am and noticed an orange glow.

“It was a glorious sunrise – possibly the best I’ve ever seen.

“So I grabbed my camera, went straight out to capture it and by going up the road I ended up with this view looking down on Meltham.’’
