AUTUMNAL days can provide some of the most striking photographs.

And the low mist settling in the moorland valleys was spotted by Gary Quarmby, from Linthwaite.

The picture shows the view from Buckstones Edge high on the moors above Scammonden looking across to Marsden which is shrouded in early morning mist.

Gary said: “On the day I took this, several low-lying areas remained shrouded in fog all day, but for those who ventured out there was sunshine.

“The photograph was shot from the car park at Buckstones looking down towards Marsden.

“It shows the mist rolling up the Colne Valley, filling Wessenden Valley in the background to the right and running up to Standedge in the foreground right, making an island out of Pule Hill.’’

Gary added: “In the background is Holme Moss and to its left is West Nab which overlooks Meltham.’’

We always need submissions for Picture Of The Week.

If your eye has been caught by a sunny face, a community event or a beautiful building, then send in those images too.

We are always keen to celebrate the town’s achievements, its spirit and its people.
