IT’S certainly unusual and looks very much like a painting of the spring snow in Greenhead Park.
But it is, in fact, a photograph taken by Examiner reader David Ward using a special technique.
David, 32, lives in Salendine Nook with wife Olivia and three-year-old daughter, Niamh.
David, who has worked as an IT professional at FMG on St Andrew’s Road for seven years, said:
“We popped to Greenhead Park for a few hours to take Niamh for a bike ride and also splash in muddy puddles with her new wellies.
“Olivia and Niamh went on the steam train while I stood by taking pictures with my brand new Canon DSLR camera.
“I decided to take this shot using a mode called HDR which is composed of three pictures – one normal exposure, one under exposure and one over exposure.
“When I got home and popped the images together I was stunned by how different things look using this technique.
“The colours and shadowing looked amazing.
“This was the first time I had ever tried this technique.”
David added: “I have been into photography for a few years now and I must admit this is probably one of my most favourite shots to date.
“Every time I look at it I can still hear the train chugging along and the lovely noise of children playing in the park.
“It brings back thousands of great memories over the years and I hope it makes the readers feel the same.”
