Having only lived in Almondbury for a few years, it’s with a heavy heart that the Chandler family are leaving.

Since moving into their home in Sharp Lane two and-a-half years ago, Catherine and Nigel Chandler have kept their three-bedroomed detached family home in great condition, while enjoying the rural environment and close-knit community.

The Chandlers first moved to the quiet village from The Netherlands.

Mrs Chandler said: “We came over here with my husband’s job and looked extensively for a house. We were looking for something semi-rural. Almondbury is quite an old village within walking distance of Castle Hill, which is quite a feature of the area.

“My husband was working over in the Netherlands and then he took up a job in Huddersfield.

“He’s now taking up another job towards Hull. It’s just a little bit too far to travel for him, otherwise we wouldn’t be at all interested in selling up!

“It’s so beautiful here. It’s so quiet and although it’s close to Huddersfield, it’s very rural. It offers the best of both worlds.”

But it’s not just the location that makes this house so special. Internally it boasts well-presented and spacious accommodation, suited to the needs of a growing family.

It features a bright living room with a living flame gas fire, an open-plan dining/kitchen which is great for entertaining, and a versatile family room currently being used as a study and gym.

Upstairs, the property continues to impress with a good size library/study area, a large master bedroom complete with en-suite bathroom and dressing room, two further well proportioned bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Mrs Chandler said: “The whole house has a nice airy feel to it but my favourite feature would be the windows and the views out of the front and back. There’s lots of wildlife around here and it’s very picturesque.

“We also have quite a private garden at the front and to the left there is quite a large copse.”

Slightly elevated from the roadside, this impressive residence benefits from established and well-stocked gardens with a good size lawn to the front.

Access leads to each side of the property, with steps leading up to a paved terraced area with banked boundaries, a strip of wooded land to the side and a double-width cobbled driveway providing off-street parking and leading to an attached double garage.

But it’s not just the area that the Chandlers will miss. Mrs Chandler added: “The neighbours are lovely and there’s a nice sense of community. I also volunteer locally at Ambry’s, the community cafe in the village.

“We’re just 10 minutes from Huddersfield and in walking distance of the village. It’s such a convenient home.”
