THE show must go on - but not without a lot of difficulty - in the Last of the Summer Wine Christmas special.
Fans are in for a festive treat when the Holmfirth-based programme goes out.
TV bosses have announced it will be screened in the week before Christmas.
Viewers will see Billy Hardcastle (Keith Clifford) having trouble finding a human target for his archery act at the annual concert and Tom Simmonite (Tom Owen) having problems teaching Smiler (Stephen Lewis) to dance like Fred Astaire.
Meanwhile, Miss Davenport (Josephine Tewson) just cannot find a suitable Romeo for her contribution although she has her eye on Truly (Frank Thornton).
The zany antics which will feature in the Christmas comedy were filmed on location over the summer.
Nora (Kathy Staff) will be seen having problems with Alvin (Brian Murphy) who has found Compo's old one-man-band outfit and is driving her to distraction with his rehearsals.
Barry (Mike Grady) on the other hand, has had his problems sorted out by Glenda (Sarah Thomas) and Auntie Roz (Dora Bryan) as all he needs is a small animal to pull out of his magician's hat at the annual concert.
The big problem for the concert performers is their total lack of confidence.
But fortunately - or so it seems - Entwistle, the electrical engineer from Hull (Burt Kwouk) is on hand with his ancient Eastern powers of hypnosis to give them all the confidence they need - and more!
* The Christmas special is on Sunday December 21 at 6.15pm.
The new series of Summer Wine will be screened in February.
