Two Upperthong FC junior player of the year awards were split by three-way ties. The Under 12 winners were Andrew Bissett, Paul Coy and Robert Blackmore and the Under 13 winners were Neil Roberts, Danny Vangrove and Steven Walker. They received their prizes at the club's junior presentation night at Huddersfield Town's Greenall Suite. FA coach Malcolm Cook (pictured fourth left) made the presentations assisted by fellow coach Ernest Womersley (third left) and team managers (from left) Ray Bissett, Tim Coy, Lloyd Osbourne, Mick Boon, Dave Schofield, Dave Hobson and Laurie Platt. Other prizes went to Under 11 Robert Dearnley, Under 14 Peter Scrimshaw and Karl Rainton, Under 15 Malcolm Kay and Under 16 Nicky Longley.

Huddersfield Cricket and Athletics Club hit back at Arena 84 in Fartown after being dismissed for 34 in their opening match at Sheffield Collegiate to earn a winning draw against Castleford in the Yorkshire League.
