Slaithwaite's Waves centre's Olympix!

Excitement was at fever pitch when Slaithwaites own Paralympics got under way. And it did so with its own version of an opening ceremony. The Mayor of Kirklees, Clr David Ridgway, led a procession of more than 100 people with liveried T shirts and banners through the village, accompanied by a brass band. The ceremony marked the opening of the five-day Olympix, organised by the villages Waves day care centre for adults with learning disabilities
