Santa Christmas may have been over but Santa returned as a snowman in Skelmanthorpe. He was crafted by Mrs Karen Illingworth who is pictured with four-year-old youngsters Katie Sykes and Richard Humphrey. Santa was built in the playgroud at Skelmanthorpe First and Nursery School.

These students from Shelley High School won a place in the regional finals of a prestigious youth drama competition with a play about Vietnam. Schools throughout the north were asked to submit details of their 20-minute plays on the subject of Heroes. The Shelley cast included Joanne Newton, Gillian Inglis, Clare Brooks, Yvette Thistlewood, Emma Sykes, Maxine Wood, Mandy Lumsden, Milly Lightfoot and Imogen Lee.
