Almondbury head completes London Marathon

ALMONDBURY High School headteacher Janet Tolley has done her bit for charity.

And she hopes her efforts, and those of two of her friends, will raise at least £6,000.

Janet ran the London Marathon for the first time.

She was delighted with her time of 4 hours 10 mins and 13 seconds, which saw her finish in 13,444th place.

More importantly the efforts of her and her friends – Tracey Wilcocks and Donna Siberry – have given a boost for Dogs for Disabled.

They were fundraising for the charity after they gave former assistant headteacher Chris Wilcocks’s daughter Lottie a dog to help cope with her spina bifida. Lottie has her heart set on becoming a paralympic athlete and now takes on challenges of her own.

Janet said: “It was a great experience.

“The highlight was seeing and hearing all the crowds, cheering everyone all the time. It was just a sea of people and everyone was backing us”.

Tracey’s time was 3 hours 49mins 26 secs while Donna finished in 3hrs 58mins and 48 secs.
