CHURCH members from across Yorkshire enjoyed a day in Dalton.
Instead of the regular Sunday service at New Church, Grove Place, more than 70 people arrived from sister churches in Bradford, Keighley and Sunderland.
Together with family groups from Sheffield, Darlington, York, Ripon and Harrogate, the purpose was to hold their annual Yorkshire and North East area meeting.
The theme of this event was ‘building church’, which is about people not buildings.
Apart from a brief formal business meeting, most of the day was spent in the church or hall taking part in the family service or Bible study or in children’s activities.
The day, which was deemed “highly successful, came to an end with a team game played among the pews.
According to Keighley New Church Council member Philip Brooks, the game was “much to the amazement and amusement of the oldest church members present.”
