West Yorkshire Police kick-off for charity year
WEST Yorkshire police has kicked-off a year of fundraising for two deserving causes.
Teams of police officers from stations across the county took part in a five-a-side football tournament at Soccer City, Waterloo, to raise £500 for Kirkwood Hospice at Dalton.
The competition is the first in a series of events planned by the force during 2012 to raise cash for the hospice and Cancer Research.
Co-ordinator Dc Nick Doyle, of Huddersfield police, hopes to raise many thousands of pounds with events including The Three Peaks Challenge and parachute jumps.
Suzanne Barton, community fundraiser for the hospice, said: “We are very grateful that West Yorkshire police has chosen the hospice as one of its charities to support this year and we look forward to working with them”.
