Alcohol licence plan for new community centre
A NEW community centre in Brackenhall has applied for a premises licence which would allow alcohol to be served.
Northfield Hall, in Norfolk Avenue, has applied to Kirklees Council for the licence which would allow late night refreshments, supply of alcohol, performance of plays and films, music and dance.
West Yorkshire Police have requested CCTV to be installed and Brackenhall Charitable Trust, which owns the centre, has specified this requirement has been met.
The trust has further said they will meet local residents at regular intervals to ensure that there are no issues with regard to noise.
Four residents have notified the licensing department that they wish to oppose the licence, which if approved would permit permission for alcohol to be served between 9am and 2.30am.
Environmental services recommended the hours be reduced to midnight in view of the residential area.
The application is due to go before Kirklees Council Licensing Panel on Thursday at Huddersfield Town Hall from noon.
