First frothy festival
BROCKHOLES: The village hall hosts its first charity beer, wine and cider festival to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The festival, on Saturday and Sunday June 2 and 3 (11am-8.30pm), includes a range of ales from local breweries. The event, organised by Brockholes resident Debra Woodhead and brewery and pub owner Richard Billington, will raise cash for Help For Heroes and the Royal British Legion. Breweries taking part include Mallinsons (Lindley), The Nook (Holmfirth), Empire (Slaithwaite), Summer Wine Brewery (Honley), Golcar Brewery, Milltown (Milnsbridge) and Brass Monkey Brewery (Sowerby Bridge). Holmfirth Vineyard and Pure North Cider (Netherthong) will be providing alternatives for non-beer drinkers. The evening includes a Johnny Cash tribute act and pie and peas.
