A CHARITY’S minibus appeal is celebrating a cash boost.
Staff at Sainsbury’s Market Street presented £500 to the Beechwood Cheshire Home at Edgerton.
The charity is working hard to raise £28,000 to buy a specially adapted minibus so that its residents can enjoy more days out.
The store has spent the last year organising fundraisers on behalf of the Bryan Road residential home after it was named its Charity of the Year.
The cash boost comes through its Community Grant scheme. The scheme, which helps charitable groups in the community, is funded by sales of the supermarket’s Bags for Life.
For customers this means that they are making a contribution to local groups as well as to the environment.
Mick Hepworth, the town centre store’s manager, said: “Our store is at the heart of the local community. It is important that we can do as much as we can to support it, we were really pleased to be able to help out.”
Last year the Community Grants scheme provided £135,000 of donations across the country.
