St Joseph's School’s test score hit as officials lose papers

BLUNDERING bureaucrats have sent a Huddersfield school crashing down the league table.

Furious Tony Parker fears parents will shun his school because of the slip-up.

And the headteacher of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Dalton said education officials knew of the error NINE months ago.

The Government admitted last night that the school’s Key Stage 2 results published today are wrong.

Mr Parker said yesterday: “The Department of Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) managed to lose three of our papers – two for English and one for maths.

“We first heard about this in July and we’ve been trying to get the results amended to reflect this. A week ago I was assured that the results would be amended but that wasn’t the case.”

Thirty-five children at the school took the Key Stage 2 test. The three children whose papers went missing all achieved the standard Level 4.

However, the official results don’t include their results. So St Joseph’s is officially listed today as having a Level 4 pass rate of 83% for English, rather than the true figure of 89%. For maths, the school is officially given an 86% pass rate – though the actual figure is 89%.
