Awards for role models

BUSINESSWOMEN in Huddersfield have been urged to enter a national competition.

The fourth annual Prowess Awards aim to recognise inspirational people who have provided help to women in business through mentoring, business support or by acting as a role model and encouraging others.

The competition is run by women’s enterprise support group Prowess and Doncaster-based business support organisation Beta Technology Ltd.

Prowess is a national alliance of 300 organisations which support about 100,000 women a year to start and grow businesses.

Judges include Lynne Franks, founder of the SEED Women’s Enterprise Network; Penny Newman, chief executive of Cafe direct; Joy Nicholls, chief executive officer of London-based Nichols Employment Agency; and Sarah Steele, of The Old Station Nursery in Oxford, a category winner last year.

The closing date for nominations is April 11. For details, go to www.prowess.org.uk
