Town’s telecom boom

FIRMS in Huddersfield are driving a boom in the use of “next-generation” telecommunications, it is said.

A survey by NTL: Telewest Business, the business telecoms arm of cable TV, telephone and internet operator Virgin Media, showed a 23% rise in the use of next-generation services by customers in the town.

It said firms were upgrading their systems to increase efficiency and cut costs.

The survey said the surge in demand followed an upgrade of key NTL: Telewest Business network link points in the Huddersfield area last May.
