Minute silence for Tim

GUESTS held a minute’s silence in memory of businessman Tim Sugden at the annual dinner of Huddersfield Society of Chartered Accountants.

Mr Sugden, who died last month aged 55, was president of the society last year.

He was managing director of Sellers Engineering at Chapel Hill and among his many sporting interests was a member of Armitage Bridge Cricket Club for more than 30 years.

Some 300 guests were welcomed to the dinner at the Galpharm Stadium by president Adrian Lee, partner at Wheawill And Sudworth Chartered Accountants, based at Westgate, Huddersfield.

The principal speakers were Barnsley poet Ian MacMillan and David Furst, incoming president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

A raffle raised £2,300 for Kirkwood Hospice at Dalton.
