Chris said: “At a time when money has become a scarce commodity, getting the business model right first time has become an even bigger challenge. The BA Hons in Enterprise Development has been designed as an entirely new concept and in my opinion will almost certainly re-invent and reshape the way we start and run a business in the future.”
Prof Thompson said the university was delighted to have Theo Paphitis supporting the new course, which will run from September next year.
He said: “We need to build businesses to succeed and this is what this new and imaginative course is designed to accomplish.”
The new course builds on the university’s acknowledged record for helping students and recent graduates embark on running their own business.
It already runs the Huddersfield Business Generator “incubator” at the Media Centre in Northumberland Street and the Business Mine on the Queensgate campus. Together, they have supported more than 200 start-ups and contributed to the local economy.
