Huddersfield sisters are really cutting it as Subway franchisees
Kay said: “We had been planning to open a sixth Subway last year, but the credit crunch arrived and we decided to concentrate on managing our existing businesses.
“In common with a lot of retailers, we have noticed a fall in customer numbers, but we have reduced our menu prices and launched new deals, which are proving popular and mean we continue to do good business.”
Each Subway store is an independent franchise business run by a local entrepreneur.
And the fast food takeaways are quickly becoming a familiar sight on high streets across the UK.
“Tracey and I were born and brought up in Huddersfield,” said Kay. “We had considered starting a business and franchising seemed a good idea because you get plenty of support to start up.
“We really felt there was room for an affordable store offering great tasting Subs and snacks in the town, from breakfast until late.
“Customers at our stores know what they are getting from a store they can trust and enjoy having their Subs made fresh in front of them, just the way they want.”
The sisters’ business is a member of the Huddersfield Town Centre Association.
Kay and her family have been working closely with local nurseries and primary schools in a bid to promote healthy eating among Huddersfield’s youngsters.
