Lazarus Mobility boss Stephen Collins to meet Gordon Brown

"All we need is a little initial financial help and some training and we can continue to make it happen and lead on the economic recovery our country so desperately needs.

"I’m also hoping to talk about the prejudices disabled people like myself experience day in and day out.

"I’m not disabled by my physical health so much as by the prejudices of others who see me as unable to function as a successful businessman.

"I hope to convince him by my example how important it is that physically disabled people are given the same opportunities as others to enable them to prosper and ultimately lead on helping others."

Stephen, who will meet the PM on June 22, was born with cerebral palsy which effects both his speech and mobility – but hasn’t prevented him from starting and growing his own very successful business designed specifically to assist others with mobility problems.

Launched almost three years ago, Lazarus Mobility has grown to become a leading supplier of numerous disability aids – with more in the pipeline due to Stephen’s development with experts at Warwick University.

Stephen has also had support from Dragon’s Den panellist Duncan Bannatyne, who last year agreed to pay his salary for a year to enable him to focus more fully on building up the business.
