THE firm in charge of Britain’s rail tracks and signals announced a 4% rise in half-year profits today.

Network Rail made pre-tax profits of £780m in the six months to September 30 as it reported “continued progress”.
The company also said that 91% of trains ran on time during the period.
Network Rail said it increased spending on the rail system by £243m to £1.7bn.
