STAFF at a store in Heckmondwike have been recognised for their loyal service after it celebrated 20 years since it opened.

Seven members of the 374 workers at the Morrisons store have been with the branch since it began trading.

Store general manager Stuart Ellis said: “Everyone at the store is delighted to be able to celebrate 20 years of trading.

“To have staff still working at the store since the opening day is amazing and I’d like to thank each of them and all our loyal customers for making the store a success over the last 20 years.”

The seven include Paul Armitage, manager of the delicatessen and a regional trainer for the firm, who said: “I can’t believe the store has been open for 20 years. It has passed so quickly and seems like only yesterday we were excitedly preparing for the opening.”

The other long-serving staff members are checkout operators Margaret Graham and Christine Bradley, sales assistants Linda McGowan and Gwen Morris, and cash office assistants Sue Ineson and Tricia Tuck.
