A FORMER musician with some of Huddersfields best-known bands has realised his dream of running a recording studio.

Alex Mullen played with bands including Gatsby, Springwood Junction and Nicky Nacky Noo before forming three-piece Bandits at 2 O'clock with Rick Fry and Kevin Stockdale.

When Kevin left to join Jagged Edge, Alex and Rick continued with bandits until retiring in October, 2004.

Now Alex and Rick, who head AdsMedia, are running a recording studio at the former radio station premises at Lockwood Park providing members of the public with the chance to make their own CDs of themselves singing favourite songs to give as gifts for friends and relatives.

Said Alex: As soon as I was made aware that the facilities were available, I contacted the rugby club with a view to moving from our old premises in Paddock and into the purpose-built studio areas at Lockwood Park.

It didnt take much convincing that we would indeed put these studios to proper use and now Im like a kid with a brand new toy.

Ive always dreamed of having my own recording studio.

Unfortunately, we are restricted in taking smaller recording projects and want to steer clear of inviting bands with drum kits in we just dont have the room.

Alex said: Although we dont play live anymore, were still heavily involved with music.

Weve amassed a massive collection of karaoke tracks so we are sure to have the songs people want.

But theres no problem in people bringing their own songs in and who knows, we may even find the next X-Factor star!
