TWO sisters have been celebrating at their Birstall manufacturing firm.

Directors Pauline Archer and Angela Cookland have led James Bedford & Co Ltd to a hat-trick of successes.

The company has achieved quality standard ISO9001 while boosting orders and significantly improving turnover.

The company, which employs 35 staff, produces a wide range of industrial workshop equipment, including workbenches, cabinets, trolleys and toolboxes.

The business was bought in 1974 by the sisters' father, Ernest Howker, who was a director of a Halifax engineering firm.

Pauline and Angela gradually took over responsibility for administration and accounts and they became directors following Mr Howker's death in 1994.

The sisters assumed full control of the company 18 months ago.

Gaining ISO 9001 has helped the firm to increase its client base and win a clutch of prestigious orders.

There are now plans to expand the 25,000 sq ft factory.
