A HOLMFIRTH graduate has won a company award for her accountancy skills.
Claire Butterworth, 24, was named Young Accountant of the Year by financial recruitment specialist Sharp Consultancy.
The award was presented at the annual dinner of Leeds Chartered Accountant Students’ Society.
Claire graduated in management studies from Nottingham University in 2004 and joined the audit department at accountancy firm Grant Thornton in Leeds.
She qualified last year and is now on secondment in the firm’s transaction advisory services department.
Claire was chosen from a shortlist of six for the annual award.
The judges said they were impressed by her leadership skills, exceptional exam results and “a thorough understanding of how to translate her academic expertise into the workplace”. She also showed initiative and expertise beyond her role in the department.
As well as being named Young Accountant of the Year Claire will receive a luxury weekend for two in Hungary’s historic capital, Budapest.
Sharp Consultancy recruits temporary and permanent part and fully qualified accountants, middle management and senior financial board members, as well as accounting support staff, clerical and administrative personnel.
It has offices in Leeds, Sheffield, Doncaster and Manchester.
