A former bank building in Mirfield has new occupants.

Legal company Derek R Adkins Conveyancing has moved its office from Knowl Road to the old Barclays Bank building in the centre of Mirfield.

The company, which was initially based in Hopton, said it had made the move following significant growth.

Barclays left the building in May, 2013.

Mirfield-born Derek Adkins set up his practice in March, 2011, after 10 years working in local firms and as a solicitor.

A licensed conveyancer, he undertakes work in house sales and purchases, wills, probate, and Powers of Attorney.

He said: “The business has gone from strength to strength – so much so that I knew I had to relocate to bigger premises. I am proud to be from Mirfield and there was no question of moving out of the area – so when an opportunity came up to take over the empty Barclays bank building I knew I had to take it.”

The size of the new premises, coupled with recruitments of additional staff, means that the firm will be able to assist more clients.

As a thank you to his current clients and to welcome potential new ones, Mr Adkins held an open day to provide visitors with a quick tour of the refurbished building.
