A DESIGN and print company in Huddersfield is franchising its sales and service business.
The Design Mechanics, based at Marsden, is now seeking a suitable franchisee to take over its existing and well-established Huddersfield and Halifax region.
At a time when many companies in the sector are cutting back and making savings, The Design Mechanics are enjoying a period of steady growth.
Managing director Stewart Leahy said franchising the business was the next step in the company’s long-term expansion plan.
“In the design industry, relatively few agencies look to grow their business,” he said. “However, we’ve developed a business model that lends itself to franchising.
“We were the first design and print organisation to provide a full price list for everything we do, which means that our service and pricing is standardised and can be easily replicated.”
Said Stewart: “All design and print is handled through our Huddersfield head office, which allows us to maintain our high standards. It also means that our franchisees do not need technical design knowledge.
“Our price list approach also means that there’s no need for a hard sell or to pitch for business, so we’re not necessarily looking for experienced sales people.
“Instead, The Design Mechanics concept is about talking to people, finding out what they need and being able to take a comprehensive brief.”
He added: “While it will still require hard work and determination on behalf of the franchisee, they’ll certainly be able to hit the ground running.
“We’re selling a tried and tested business model, with all the benefits of our experienced design and print team, along with an existing, satisfied client list and the use of an office and meeting facilities at our head office.”
